Less We Forget How Do We Forget?

Tell me how we can forget, there is a war out there each and everyday.
The war of many years ago may seem strange and different to many of us.
But not so much so, many have given up thier lives for us.

So many people in a different time and a different place.
vetrans from World war 1 and 2 know what it was like back then.
maybe we do find it hard to understand, only because it was
a different time and place..
many of us don't know much about war because back then we weren't
even born.

We try to show respect and honor the ones from the wars of may years ago.
But when we stand up to remember those from way back when we must
remember those who are fighting a war that never ends.
Some come home safe and sound and some are lost and can't be found.
Some come home injured, well others just come back.back home to stay
but not to live, they went to fight in a war like many did before.

There were bright red poppies and crosses standing in Flanders Fields
row by row.
Our soliders are found lying in sand and dust on desert land ,in a
horrible deadly place.
Not a pretty flower there shall grow everything is destroyed by those
with evil ideas of distruction.
nothing last over there, the peace, rebuilding the common ground we strive
to find just gets distroyed any how.

Less we forget, that was then, this is now.
How do we forget?
Everyday there is another name added to the list of names, of those who
gave up their lives for us.
freedom is a large price to pay. it was back then and is still is today
In Flanders Field the poppies blow, and crosses row by row.
In Iraq and other lands there's nothing but dust and sand.
what flower ever there could there be?
Where are the crosses to stand row by row?
When will this ever end? does anyone even know.
Less We forget, How Do We forget? the war isn't over yet.
World war 1 and 2 are over and all done. But there is yet another one.
It was due to happen because of things that were done.

A very powerful piece filled with emotion. Not much has changed in the years since you wrote this, war is still at the forefront today, more soldiers give their lives everyday and we are left to mourn their loss and sacrifice and wonder if ever there will be an end, will there ever be truly peace on Earth. Thanks for the great entry, hugs, Bunny

Powerful write, filled with much emotion, and echos of what many others are saying, when will it ever end. I think hell is here and now, and I want to be in the rapture, in the here-after
We can only pray that a truce is made somewhere,
and soon our troops will be home, before anymore lives are lost, and of course, We'll Never Forget.

    sincerely,
    Sassy

This is a great poem. This poem makes me think of my brother. He just left Iraq 2 months ago, and is now in Japan to come home to the U.S. When he comes home, he will get married, and I get to be in his wedding. Thanks for sharing. You are a great poet.

The greatest tribute you can give to anyone in service who gave their lives in the name of their country is to remember their sacrifice. The Uk has been involved in many armed conflicts in my lifetime-how those who fought so long ago must weary of it. They gave so that we would not have to-and yet on and on it goes. A lovely tribute.

    Time Does Mend

wounds yet causes memories to dull. Yet there is another, been going so long seems almost routine. Unfortunately. I liked the poem nd the statement you were making. Good luck in the contest and thank you for entering.

Great poem my grandfather was in World war II , His brother was on the U.S.S. Comfort when the japanese kamakazee's hit the ship, but luckily he survived.Again great poem. War is never ending one end's and almost always another begins. Just a way of life always has and always will be. Pretty damn stupid that we have to fight. but the crap all started in the beginning with adam and eve. If she just hadn't of ate that forbidden fruit we probably wouldn't be in this situation of sin today.

A tribute to you Brenda on this write, of conscience, and questions. It is true that some wars have been going on for years. Sudan...will those people ever know a life without famine or war? Some of our Canadian and American soldiers have fought in Two Wars! And their sons now go to carry on, what they began. This present war seems endless. Good form and rhyme through alot of the poem. Thank you for standing up for our people fighting in the war. Canadian, American...With unselfish hearts they go in the name of peace, and they are never to be forgotten.

This was almost like alittle time capsule of sorts, it really made me think back to 9/11 and remember were and what I doing when I got news. It's been almost 7 years since then and honestly dosen't seem like much has changed since then, it's like were still in orange and red alert since them. This was very moving poem and really envoked some old emotions from that tragic day. thank you for sharing.

Has anything changed at all since you wrote this? Interesting to look back and see that nothing really has, but it has gotten worse. Remember to use capitals on the first letter of the first word in each new sentence - easier to read that way.
