Museum of History

Right off the pages of history
The great ship came alive for us to see
It was only built half scale its true
But it felt so real during the walk through

So many treasures there were to see
Most were saved from the sea
Some were souvenirs passengers wanted of their trip
Memories to keep from riding a famous ship

A whole room of photos taken by Father Brown
It’s so great that he kept his camera around
We saw an old deck chair that was saved by one
And two of the life jackets that were worn by some

We saw dishes with the logo engraved
Beautiful things, I’m glad they were saved
An original menu, valued at thousands its true
All in a museum for me and you

The captain’s wheel as big as could be
Gave an illusion of looking out on the sea
So many things that we saw
It’s getting hard for me to recall

Photos of the dead they pulled from the sea
Made the whole tragedy more real to me
Watches with their hands forever frozen in time
Looking at these just blew my mind

The grand stair case was at the end of the tour
Standing on it was almost more than I could endure
So many emotions running through my mind
Taking me back to that moment in time

When the great Titanic hit the ocean floor
And now lies in her grave forever more
So many things we got to see
In this museum filled with history

And if you love the Titanic the way I do
Then you might go to Missouri too
There in the heart of Branson standing proud
You’ll see her funnels reach toward the clouds

    Thanks for your entry!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this! It sucks that I live in england, but the vividness with which I walked round the museum with you makes up for it. Brilliant write.

    Good luck;

This is a wonderful, descriptive poem that makes me feel like I was there with you to see all of this amazing stuff. It must have been somewhat overwhelming to imagine the panic and fear those people must have endured. Nice write, and I love the background too. Thanks for entering. Patty

This is a cool poem. I too am interested in the Titanic. They have so many theories on how it sank. I still believe the iceberg theory. Enjoyed the read! Thank you for entering my contest.

Very good write, vivid imagery, you did justice to this tragic event in history. It really makes you see how big we can make our selves seem how full of ourselves we are and yet the simplest things can take down our dreams, our proud achievements, ones we believed would suceed and had no chance of failing. I love the flow of this poem. Even though this is also about the museum it is very good and has the elements I was looking for.

Well written, indeed!! Smooth flowing and cleanly penned over all. You have certinly captured a small hint of the tragety that was Titanic. I have been to one of the museums in Columbus, OH where they had a massive gallary of artifacts and passenger informationa and facts. it was quite similar to the one you have described here. You have written a touching tribute to all those who lost their lives to the ship that couldn't sink.

    Again, beautifully witten,

    Burmina
