**To Hunt For A Haunting**
Hallows Eve Night we sneak to a Mansion seeking out the ghosts for we were dared The house sat upon a hill an old rickety wrought iron fence surrounds An eerie moon lurked within the sky, eye catching shadows causing our pace to quicken Warily sneaking up the path, jumping at each and every sound We had been dared, so we had to comply, with flashlights in hand, we crept through the night Through the gate we quietly entered up one step then two tensing at creaking boards Slowly tip-toeing across the porch trying not to make a sound We tried the door, and unlocked it was, opening it we peeked inside, nothing in sight so far. We let ourselves in and took a look around, And to our surprise the door slammed. Frightened and screaming at the noise we had broken the silence we promised to keep. Huddled together on this Hallows Eve Night, we were supposed to be the hunters not the hunted. Oct 27 9:38 AM 2007 http://allpoetry.com/poem/3546936
