Flames
Light an abrupt rivalry
Firemen charge in anger
And a life is saved
As the roof caves in
His son
Biking and playing
Not paying attention
To the daylight drunk
Now just a memory
After a fire
A bottle of comfort
Rests in the freezer
To numb, relax, forget
This “Hell On Earth”
Light an abrupt rivalry
Firemen charge in anger
And a life is saved
As the roof caves in
His son
Biking and playing
Not paying attention
To the daylight drunk
Now just a memory
After a fire
A bottle of comfort
Rests in the freezer
To numb, relax, forget
This “Hell On Earth”
Author notes
This one is for option number 2. I was messing around with cinquains and I put three different stanza's together and each one is a cinquain about a fireman's life. This poem was inspired by a show called 'Rescue Me' on Showcase. It's about firemen dealing with the fears of their job as well as the fears in their personal lives. Very dramatic and one of my most favorite shows of all time. Hope you like the poem
