Blanket of white surrounds us completely,
as snow covered branches sparkle
in light of waxing gibbous moon.
Padding along the nature trail,
ours the only footprints to be had.
Old man winter breathes a long sigh
and I nestle beneath your wing.
Slowly we walk and I start to dream-
dream of lying next to you by the fireplace.
Hot cocoa and fresh biscotti,
a treat we both enjoy.
As if reading my mind,
you whisper softly in my ear.
I look up to see your eyes smiling,
we stop, frozen in time.
These nights are ours alone,
precious moments shared by us two.
We walk together...
Forever...

When I wrote this our host asked to be taken for a walk through winter woods. I pictured my husband and I all bundled up taking that walk and sharing the love that is ours. It made my walk special.
