Dear Heavenly Father,
Beaten, bruised, bodies betrayed;
hearts stripped of what made us whole.
Burdened by words we never should hear,
nightmarish scenes burn our soul.
We are one body, Lord-
broken and scarred
ravaged by war,
scourged by sin.
Exiled by anger
cast out and scorned,
drowning in our wretched tears.
Your Son, your Son
Your triumphant Son
spoke words of love,
a balm for our wounds.
His life poured out
cleansed us,
restored our bond to you.
Rescue us, O God!
Douse the flames of rage
burning deep within,
scorching all that lives.
Help us to know
our worth through your eyes.
Soothe us with the salve
of your tender mercy.
Come Lord Jesus,
heal our wounded world.
Holy Spirit, come rest,
come rest,
come rest in our hearts;
breathe your peace.
Maranatha.
Beaten, bruised, bodies betrayed;
hearts stripped of what made us whole.
Burdened by words we never should hear,
nightmarish scenes burn our soul.
We are one body, Lord-
broken and scarred
ravaged by war,
scourged by sin.
Exiled by anger

Come Lord Jesus,

Holy Spirit, come rest,
come rest,
come rest in our hearts;
breathe your peace.
Maranatha.

I hope God answers your prayer. Our land, our souls, our churches are all in need of healing. I appreciate how the Trinity is included in your poem by mentioning The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.

A truely beautiful poem!
Well said. Our world does need your voice. This poem needs to be shouted from the roof tops of our homes.
"He poured his life out,
cleansed us,
And restored our bond to you."
So, true, I know he rescued me from a life or anger, and hate. I am not deserving, but he loves me anyway.
What a great poem!!!

wonderful poem
You write a superb poem with a deep, deep meaning. All through the reading I can feel the spiritualism and the love of God in your words of prayer. Truly a wonderful piece.

This prayer is simply beautiful and a prayer that many of us need to be praying. So many things are going wrong in this world that people need a place to go for refuge and they need to know that God is there for just that. You portray such a loving God in this poem/prayer that who could deny him as the meek and lowly at heart God that he is. Beautiful.
-
Praise the Holy Name of the Lord thy God. Such a beautiful prayer. May you continue in the glory of God's light and love.
