Shara

I stand here head held high
long red hair my crown bestowed
breath be fresh as winter snow
eyes as clear as yon crystal ice
praying hands bound behind my back

Voice rings clear to you I say
Burn me as a witch this day
Shara Goodman has naught to hide
You have the wicked ways not I
Burn each face upon my soul

For you in hell I  will grow old

Clawing scratching filthy claws
fetid sour evil breath
matted hair bloody eyes
traded for all that I am
to stalk you in hell for eternity

Listen yet you wicked men
upon my breast you suckles
my tender wares you savored
words as honey lay upon your lips

Yet I face you one by one
The night grows colder yet I stand
pull your cloaks about ye men
Light the cursed fire
Full moon be while it will devour

One by one as Shara Goodman stood
the cowards left her
surrounded by brush cold and wind
Shara began a melodious chant
bonds fell way wrists free

The forest beckoned
Shara began to dance throw her arms wide
Laughter and tears
purest form of art was lovely frozen Shara
in the cold sunlight found upon the morrow.

Author notes

This poem is dedicated to all men who hold something special in maybe once twice in a life time. They can not let it bloom beside them as a child, wife, mother or even friend. They will not do not stop until they crush it the bud before it even blooms, beneath the heel.
