Still
This day seems
to rise and turn
upon no particular point
or pivot,
standing still.
In the middle of chaos,
the world rushes
by in such haste,
as if busy-ness truly mattered,
as if pain has no importance,
as if being did not matter at all;
words lose meaning, tongues
searching to speak
the heart’s ache.
Clouds still drift
a blue sky
yet we are captured,
Still,
in motion.

I will think on this.
I will think on this when I am with my patient. We all have our meditations and ways of dealing with what the day has brought. And still we strive for the next day. -
Nice contrasts between still and motion; and between being and doing(busy-ness). In my opinion, without God as the pivot point everything else goes astray.

I think a great number of individuals share your opinion with regard to the pivotal focus – thank you so much for your kind remarks.

even when I read it the second time...I am loving it.

Sometimes I think the world is really standing still, it is only time that is moving, and we futile little humans with not much more than the hustle of life on our minds are running ourselves sick with stress.
I try to meditate. Sometimes it helps, but it's been working less of late as I've recently entered a more busy environment. But I am always refreshed by your words, and the images and flashes of intuition that come from them. I think you are an ancient, a very wise soul. And I am still a neophyte, still learning.

Many blessings,
Raven Aurora

what a lovely poem
I like the line In the middle of chaos. Are we not in the middle of chaos everyday. These days we tend to be in a rush. So your line the world rushes is why we are in chaos. We never can be still. So I find myself wondering of time gone by. I like this poem it makes you think . I didn't like the fact that it end. So with this I say thank you for a wonderful piece of words. May your words keep floating like a swan on lake.

Richard . . . I love these meditations . . . they help me to quieten my mind and heart in this topsy turvy world we live in . . . beautiful.

marc, thank for reading the meditation, i am pleased you found it calming, it (meditation) makes the difference between my insanity or rationality - it keeps me living.

You still amaze me!!! There is nothing else to say other than that! Your words are breathtaking and seem so simple at times, but have such a deeper meaning to the soul that feels them. This is stunning!!!

becca, you - You, dear poet, are the one that amazes me and i do thank you for your comment here. i am glad you think my simplicity has deeper meaning, when in reality i am just deeply simple.

I love your poetry, it is deep and speaks to a persons soul. It is writing of a truly spiritual quality. I will be adding you to my favorites!

-
-
well, i really do appreciate your applause, i am stunned that you would want to add me as a favorite based on the meditations as they are pretty light and airy little things with not much subtance...but your adding me, i do not take that lightly and thank you for the honor of doing so.

LOVE IT
I so love this. I love the way it flows while reading it, taking you on a journey with the ebb and flow of time. Impressive for being so small. But, sometimes the best poems are the short ones!

Words of Soul
I'd say it's a moment in time captured very well with perfect wording to make a beautiful slow image appear in the mind of your reader. . . like making time stand still.

I can't help but wonder if the "captured" has to do with the state of mind you have to have living in the fear that you do right now. The clouds that are still drifting in a blue sky, must be filling up with smoke. I pray for you and your family. Lovely poem.

Cheryl, you read more than is said, that is for sure and originally it was intended to be in the first person - your gift of compassion is a blessing to me.

I do like your meditative pieces, Shepherd...this one makes me remember how still I can be interiorly, when I am in pain, and yet I go through the motions of life, not truly present, only keeping busy, as if it mattered that I keep up the appearance...you have a wonderful way with your words, a way I so appreciate. Be well, Rhonda
