I look across the table
And I smile at my reflection,
For that is what you are -
An element of me,
Or of who I'd like to be.
From your coffee-coloured vantage point
The world is black and white
And you win in the end,
'Cause you fight the good fight.
You make me remember
When I was that soldier,
Before the world came
Tumbling in.
There's a cracking in your countenance
As you're lost in introspection,
And I feel less alone
Because we're so completely known
That silences do nothing
To stop the conversation.
And though I quietly reflect
That it won't always be this easy,
Once this last winter gives way
To summertime breezes,
I'll always have the memories
In the sparkling eyes
Of my reflection.

I really enjoyed this, it took me to another place, showing me another world.

Loved your word choice so far you are getting on the finalist list. These lines were brilliant. Some I didn't understand, but they somehow worked perfectly. Your ending lines tied the whole thing together so well. I loved your title as well. You rock.

I mean, it's probably going to happen in my situation too, but you've got to be glad for what was there, right?
