It's the little things
that make me smile;
dispel the blues
for a little while...
Frisky puppies,
playful kittens,
tiny bubbles,
children's mittens.
Bountiful butterflies
fluttering by,
colorful rainbow
in cloudy sky.
Floral bouquets,
jelly beans,
miniature dolls,
old faded jeans.
Cups and saucers
for little fingers,
buttons and bows,
aroma that lingers.
Warm kisses tenderly
placed on my ear,
speckled leaves falling
when autumn is here.
A baby's nose,
cute as can be;
a music box,
a Christmas tree.
The light in the eyes
of my love so true;
words whispered softly,
"I'll always love you."

You cute, dear little poem just made me smile!Thank you-I needed that!Very uplifting. It's just what I needed today! -
Aw this is very sweet. I am a firm believer in the theory that the so called little things are the best things in life. I don't think any thing is a little thing, each thing is its own miracle in and of itself. This poem made me smile. Great job on this!

Little pleasures are the best
But often they are put at rest
And lie forgotten on the shelf
Until we take a look at self
Then memories they soon return
For forever in our brains are burned
Those little things that mean a lot
Through memories, again now caught
Hugs and love...Eddy -

Dear Maureen
Little Things That Make Me Smile
This is absolutely deserving of many comments. I'm really glad that you promoted it, or else I would not have seen it!
This is beautifull...presentatio n says so much. It tells me that you are one of the few that appreciate the smallest things that others take for granted, it shows me that you have a very light-hearte d personality and your words actually speak, saying "Don't take things for granted" and "The tinyest of things can be noticed, so appreciate them and just look around you" Excellent write Maureen! Thank you for sharing!
Good Luck!

It is the little things in life that makes everything worth while.
like a smiple smile from a stranger. the look that you have been looking for from someone special. children playing in the yard. your car starting up without a problem.
yep it is the little things in life that makes everything worth while.

Excellent Poem
Wow! What an awsome poem with an awesome flow, yes, I agree, it's the little things, I have a poem called the Simple Things, kinda like this one, but yours just fills my little sad heart with joy, thanks for sharing and the sweet reminder that we need to pay attention to detail, the 'Little Things, for sometimes they can be most important, lots of love and please pen on, great work my friend!

Of all the things that chase away your blues. You must be happy most of your days.
A nice poem and written well. It reads easily as if it bubbled straight from the heart.
Many times I've read some works along these lines and most left me cold and others left a sense of aneurism.
It is as if the poor poet had an aneurism trying to find words to rhyme with ideas and emotions the poet has only ever experienced on the Hallmark channel and in birthday cards.
But you have stoked a warm glow in my heart and kept it flaring with every line.
While your images wiped at my cynicism untill there almost wasn't any left.
If you don't win anything in this contest let me know and I'll break a few fingers.

It brightened my day. It's the little things that make life wonderful, and the ones you listed are a few of my favorite things, too.
It reads like a little child's giggle.. truly Sound of Music-esque.
