twinkle softly my shining star
begin on your trip; please don't travel too far
lay down your head though it musses your hair
let your dreams handle your last little care
drift off to sleep while I hold you so tight
I promise I'm here, give in to the night
cuddle with the clouds that are floating along
breathe in the sleep-sand, listen to my song
rest your head upon my heart, and dream your little dreams
enter into the nightland where all is as it seems
the moon will be your pillow and for blankets use the skies
the world around you changes once you close your sleepy eyes
your bedtime story's finished, Mommy gives a final kiss
hurry to sleep dear one, or the dreamland you will miss
I'll be there to hold you if ever you should awake
but try to sleep my perfect, you need a little break
the world has gone to sleep and finally its your turn
Mommy just can't teach you all the lessons you must learn
go to sleep my angel, only pleasant dreams await
try out your wings my cherub boy, but know, its getting late
your brown eyes start to close and your breathing's still and slow
you'll be warm inside your bed, come the wind or snow
I love your gentle giggle, but the timings just not right
sweet dreams my baby boy, we'll play by morning's light
Author notes
its really basic and elemental...but it feels good to write poetry again.
Please tell me what you think

This is awesome poem. It was really cute without being sickly sweet. However, it made me sleepy so I'm going to go have a nap haha.
Again, great poem and I'm so happy to see you put stuff up here. I haven't had anything good to read in so long. Thank you

It is soooo good to see you post again my friend. And to post something as soft, warm and loving as this makes it even better ( smiles)
Very well done
