The moon was full that Halloween
A fuller moon I’ve never seen
Although I felt a quiet dread
I never thought I’d end up dead!
Looking back I should’ve run
But the deed is surly done
When I saw it coming near
Stark surprise bore down my fear
A train is running where none could
It’s running through my neighborhood!
Smoke stack burnin’, leaving trails
Track in place with rusty nails
Ground was shaking as it drew near
Whistle blowin’, screaming fear
I should’ve known my soul was drawn
I never should have gotten on
I tried to run, I tried to hide!
My fate was sealed once found inside
All aboard the Black Death train
Never to be seen again
Darkened windows, curtains shut
Down the isle grim figures strut
Where it’s going I think I know
and when I heard that whistle blow
I knew my time on earth was through
A better life I can’t pursue
so I bid my sad farewell
on a train that’s bound for hell

Thanks for your entry
creepy, this reminds me of a bit from Amazing stories. I don't know if you ever saw that movie but this poem reminds me of it. Nice flow and structure.
Happy Halloween

Brilliant! This is a facepaced thrill that hooked me right away! I love the imagery, and the tale. The way you describe things is so... *kisses her fingertips* wonderful. Lovely work!
