If you go down to Huguelot

Missing image
If you go down to Huguelot
you’d better not go alone.
It’s scary at the Castle tonight
it’s best that you stay at home,
for every ghost that ever there was
will gather there to scare you because
that’s the time the spirits are on the roam.

Hallow time for ghosts to play
the ghost’s are havin lot’s of fun today
watch them as they stomp about
they love to yell and shout
they never have any rules.

At twelve o’clock the mummies and ghouls
will scare you all away
because you can’t come to Huguelot.

Happy Halloween at Huguelot.

Author notes

Just a bit of silliness because I've lost my muse and can't find him anywhere. Has anybody seen him?
A couple of verses from "The Teddy Bears Picnic" HMMMM
Geez, I can't remember all the verses.

The ghoats sound like me when I'm out of Moxie.

Better to be like you and lose your muse than be like me and never have one. My inspiration has been lacking recently too, I think it's something in the water at Castle Huguelot...the King is too cheap to remove that old copper piping!

I don't know the song but was singing the lyrics to some old country song I remember my dad playing when I was a kid. Something about the first couple lines reminded me of it.

Happy Halloween, do you celebrate Halloween down under? I mean, the kids going door to door begging for candy?

The original words to nursery rhyme are:

If you go down to the woods today
you're in for a big surprise
if you go down to the words today
      you'd better go in disguise
for every bear that ever there was
      will gather there togther because
todays the day the Teddy bears have their picnic.

      Picnic time for teddy bears
the little teddy bears are a having a lot of fun today
watch them as they gad about
they love to play and shout
      they never have any cares

At six o'clock their mummies and daddies will take them home to bed
because they'r tired little teddy bears.

The past few years there's been children coming around dressed up for trick or treat. so it's catching on here.

It's awful when you lose your muse, do you remember where you had him last?
    Great fun.

    Dear Jenelda,

When Muse deserts and stays away
a poet need not feel downhearted
    for inspiration comes, they say,
if you can just get something started.

I don't know if that's right or wrong
or if it happens as it should
but I do think your little song
    is really very, very good.

I've sung it twice, the whole refrain
and now I'll sing it through again.

Very best of luck in the voting.
Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh (R.)

I think you are on the right path of finding your muse again. They do seem to take a bit of nap here and there when we truely want to write something, but that is the perfect time to just play around with other styles til nap time is over. Good job with this piece and best of luck in the contest.

Thank you Jen for your lovely comment. Yes, mine is napping but hopefully he'll come back again and help me to write once more. I just have to find where I left him.
