Sometimes I feel like I’m drowning
in a sea of unfathomable depths ~
unforeseeable, disarming eruptions
continue to challenge my breath.
Life sure has a strange way of teaching
and the heart must arise for that test,
so I gasp for a fresh experience
to balance this weight on my chest.
When love takes a break by hiding,
recovery steps out for the mess,
dark thoughts find a way of lurking
and I struggle to put them to rest.
I stumble to find a firm footing
while convincing myself, “I am blessed!”
my ego shouts back, “you are crazy!”
as my mind seeks a way to protest.
As each day dawns a new beginning,
I wonder how far I’ve regressed,
it’s a battle of wits verses logic
and a long, lonely road called Progress!

Author notes
"I want a confession," and this is mine! Life is not always easy and sometimes we must struggle to know that "to everything there is a purpose!"

Amen on this one! I'm learning this lesson the hard way...lol. Soon, if what doesn't kill me makes me stronger, I'll be the strongest homeless man on earth. Best of luck in the contest.
Sincerely,
Leo Long
