Beneath the umbrella stood the fanatics.
Waving their placards made of paper,
standing on sandals made in China.
The ground testament to an ignorance
of the use of a trash can, a recycle bin
and in some - not so rare cases - a bathroom.
Pins on the shirt speak of protests;
protests in DC, San Fran, London, and Cape Town.
Surely all walked too - slowly, across the land and water -
less a jet foul the air with its heavenly perfume.
Some yell and scream, taunting all who disbelieve.
Incurring violence while waving peace signs;
destroying property with ease, yet pouring out
little dribbles of Ghandi-ese.
Note the placards. Note the message.
Peace, love, and save the environment.
Do as they say - not as they do.
The living contradiction.

It was in reference to the way earth-activists fly around the world in order to protest pollution.
Another contradiction. -
You have cetainly captured something contradictory here.
The line about the jet's "heavenly perfume" seems out of place to me.
Thanks for entering.
