Just there to drive
after hospital anesthesia
for designated safety nets, time crawls;
doctors whispering results at a roar
occasional downcast hearing; mostly
we sat for hours
unmet in silence.
I see knitting lady, bowling guy[ shirt]
golfer[shoes]; retired school teacher type
and some bored blank stares
barely in view.
Sharing latent anxiety
and free self serve coffee pot.
Until, I look at knitting lady
and say
" I once did that"
"helped knit a blanket for a child"
she beamed, so pleasant;
retired school teacher chimed - done the same
bowling and golf guys reflecting on mothers and aunts,
suddenly the room was abuzz with chatter
just as my doctor popped out;
leaving to a mild cacophony of laughter and
smiles... knitting.

I love the scene you painted.
This is some excellent prose. This is a nice example of taking notice of the little things in life that most of us take for granted. How many of us have waited impatiently in waiting rooms? It's the well-versed poet who finds his art in everyday life. Very well done!

This was really nice. It's funny over what things people will actually bond. Even something as simple as knitting! Very nicely done...
