Beneath the eyes of yesterday
imprisoned by the past,
slaves to all we should have been
the dies that life has cast.
Are we bound by all the strictures
by the walls that so confine,
or is there freedom to be found,
somewhere beyond our minds?

a good write, i think that there is freedom behind the mind, we just have to take the right steps and reach its open expanse.

your first two lines were very good. I think it got a bit confusing towards the end, almost like you changed thoughts. I also didn't understand the fourth line, but I could just be having a blonde moment. LOL Um, so I like the idea of this piece, and your flow and rhyme are good, it's just that the message is a tad confusing.
