A reminder

i sent my messengers
but no one would be able to express how much i loved you
so i wrote love letter to you
long before you were born
many tried to stop it from reaching you
but my love was stronger than their hate
though they banned it and burned it
I made sure i kept a copy just for you,especially for you.

I was so glad when you first got it,
my chest thumped in anticipation,
as your eye twinkled in delight,
and i was so excited that at last you would understand i love you.
like wine, my love for you bettered by the day,
and i wish you knew how it hurt my heart,
that you did not reciprocate my love,
but it grew colder each day by the many cares you heard.

i dint need you to read the whole of it,
all i wished is that you could read a verse every day,
how i wished you would put it under your pillow,
to read it through the night watches,
how i wish you would carry it in your bag,
to read during your coffee break,
or when you had to stand in a queue.

i envy the way you love your cellphone,
it is always in your hand,
you never switch it off even in church,
and you have to rush home to get it if you forgot it,
i envy the way you scroll it when you are bored,
and sometimes i wish,
that you would treat my letter the same

sunday is too far for me to wait,
and service is too short,
for me to explain how much i love you.
so would you please dust your bible,
and put it on your kitchen table,
read it moment by moment,
let me show you how much i care.
this is just a reminder
that what i wrote to you
came from my heart.
