This was you Mom
nearly one year ago
Same hands
Same needles
Same frailty
Wrinkled and old
Hard as I try
I can't look away
This picture was you, Mom
Back then
that DAY
But memories won't leave
And I don't want them to
Because it's the last time
I ever saw you...
nearly one year ago
Same hands
Same needles
Same frailty
Wrinkled and old
Hard as I try
I can't look away
This picture was you, Mom
Back then
that DAY
But memories won't leave
And I don't want them to
Because it's the last time
I ever saw you...

A very poignant poem that delves deeper than the surface words. A mother's shining love is so precious and valued it makes gold look dull. Tony

... Damn. Talk about deep. This was ... just... so emotional for me to read. I have not been very close to my mother since I was a child, even then there were only moments when we would bond. Even so I could never imagine seeing her for the last time... losing her. Ugh... this was extremely touching for me. The picture really added soemthing to it as well.. Thank you for entering and good luck.

The sadness in this is almost unbearable, you made me want to reach through the screen just to give you a hug. You made this poem beautiful, real, and raw. Thank you for entering, and good luck to you.

wow!
the sadness in this piece is there but there is a certain hope which I love. it reminds me of a very close friend who has lost her mother who was rather young and she is still very strong.
it is always heart-breaking to see a loved one i hospital with the needles poking into them. the last stanza was brilliant. memories will never ever leave us thought the person might. that is something I value very much. whenever you feel low, just think back of all the good times. I am sure that will amke you feel mucg better! best of wishes for the contest. I really like this piece. It was very moving.

Ohhh...beautiful butterfly...
this is a beautiful write that leaves me weeping...
your poem is filled with raw pain and love for your Mother...who surely must have been a true earth angel to raise a wonderful daughter like yourself!
Elegant and profound words bleed my heart...for you...
I shall hold you in my thoughts and prayers...
I am confident your Mother is peacefully smiling at you with great pride at this very moment...
Love,
Tammy

Thank you Tammy. I almost cried when I saw this picture. It looked so much like my Moms hands, that day.
