Dancing with Janis

When the air not still
Soft trail of song
Through the woods
You hear,
Listen
A little closer
Her ghost is near.

Time may impede
It may even seem
As a distant daydream
But this feeling is true
Her ghost is upon you.

Be not alarmed
The tingling in your feet
In your head
In your arms
Is the child within
Innocence echoes again

With the echoes
Her voice dances
Now Your soul
Worried no more
Now Your soul
Dances with Her sole.

Author notes

tribute to janis joplin, inspired by the Grateful Dead's "Bird Song", and Robert Frost's "Never Again Would Birds' Song Be the Same"

i remember the first concert i saw with her, the brilliantly breathless encounter of lyric and passion drenched in sweat and intensity - an i was in the back, i wonder what the ones in the front row felt. She was, is, a legend. Very nice tribute.

    blessings and best wishes,

    ~r.

nice musical choices. i grew up with hippie music, so i can especially relate to this artist. ^_^ your poem is lovely, kind of reminiscent of a piece i wrote called "brother's of word" only that was about the ghosts of authors, not musicians.

this is lovely. best of luck to you,
    ~pasha
