The Curse of Verse

Miracles still happen,
I find, from time to time ...
with adroit juxtapositioning
my poems even rhyme.

Dictionaries and thesaureses
often help me spell,
but in point of fact, without them
I still do rather well.

My rhymes are sure and certain
but the news was never worse.
Most editors I send to
claim to only like "free verse".

Author notes

Just a rather wry comment on the state of poetry in the world toay.

This made me smile big time, for your last stanza especially echoes my own thoughts of late. I far more enjoy reading poetry with definite meter, even if there is no rhyme, but good rhyme is frosting on an already fine cake. I bemoan its underrating.

You do write well. This is another example. Good work.

Just lower your standards and go for shock jocky banter in nonsense. Editorial mastery has fallin by the way side these days I fear. Poetry of the master's method included.Terrible thing when the flow follows the mark on the lowest rung instead of striving for higher quality. However,if you're talkingpoint was poetry alone? A well rounded open eye endeavor of all facets will attract the most attention. Not to worry, your superstar ability is in tact in any form you so choose to scribe.

    AMEN!!!

Although I'm writing more freeverse as of late than I used to I certainly know where you are coming from on this piece

I agree with you, you write nice poems in rhyme. It's a shame that rhyming verses are often under valued compared to free verse, but it is as you have said before ... people who say that are unable to rhyme themselves!

I like it, it's a very bold statement to make in my opinion.
I love rhyme, I'm a real sucker for it, a poem that rhymes always beats a non-rhyming poem in my opinion, I love rhyme.
This is a really good poem, written brilliantly, the rhyme is great, the words are written perfectly, it's an excellent poem =)
Thanks for entering my contest and good luck! =)
