The thoughts of tomorrow echo through me
Binding me to fate.
Even though I wish to break free,
I can't stray from the path,
And the thorny briars dig in
The more I try to escape
And pull me along.
I can do no more than think,
Fantisize about a different life,
For my mind isn't bound
To the winding paved path
Stretched over a darkened woods
While I look for shade from the sun of expectations
And sweat blood for trying to stay out of grasp
Of those echos.
The farther I try to stay
Away from those spiky ropes,
The closer I come
To tripping on the path
And falling forever into the dust
That would swallow me before I am caught.
If only another walked beside me,
If only another was there to break apart the briars
And cover the echos,
Then I could leave the path
And never fall.
