What topic will I chose
That will be one of a kind
I need to brainstorm;
Rake my mind
Maybe I’ll write about weather
Sun shining through clouds in the rain
The way the leaves rustle in a breeze
The heat on a desert plain
Shall I discuss the downfall of government?
Or perhaps our hopeless humanity?
About Mother Nature’s heavy burdens?
About hate, death and insanity?
Is there room for religion?
The faith that stirs within
The way it tests individuals
With its definitions of sin
Perhaps I’ll write about Nature
The moon’s rays shining through trees
The melody of a small bird
The ocean’s salty breeze
Shall I describe my life’s journeys?
The pain that each one brings
The lessons that I learn from them
A new understanding of things
There’s great magick in this world
Perhaps I should discuss that?
The way the wind speaks to us
The shining eyes of a cat
Is my mood the right subject?
Its tendency to go wild
How calm and serene I’ll be one moment
But suddenly act like a child
Shall I discuss all things I hate
Or all things I truly love?
Maybe things that don’t matter to me
Or all of the above?
The topics are endless
But the choice is mine
What’ll it take?
To make me shine
Author notes
This is a revised version of my "Poetry Beginnings" poem. I'm sending this in as a college essay, so I got a little help fixing parts of it up for that sort of thing.
Enjoy!
