Ring of fire

small puddles of paint in palette,
strange different shining colors
wait for separate calm cool breezes
of different brushes to stroke
on white fabric in aspects highlighted,
ingenious hands going to place
enchanting colors
an image bewitched in fabric to appear.

stupid brush of madness plunges into paint,
figures appear in center of fabric,
charm of paint gives life to painting
in gracious aspects art,
a fine transparent cloud of pure aqua,
a bird of brush fall soot
of open wings unexpected to fly free.

black luminous delighted
white cloud in levitation,
wings of fire tear nosedive,
particles of water in suspension,
delicate body whirls around fast,
draws in space a track of flash,
a ring of fire around the image..
in dizziness...painted imagination..

This is a good poem, no doubt. I like the words. I love words alot of people don't use to much. I like the images and all that is left to the imagination. Good luck in the contest.

Of the three moods of painting, I like the third best, it is quite magical and lovely. Some of your adjectives tell the intent instead of showing it, that is often better done with verbs or nouns themselves. Good luck!

This poem is a fine piece of free verse

celebrating a painting in abstract by a Picasso or someone like him. The frenetic zeal shines through in this feverish poem of flurry, form and colour. Thank you. "A ring of fire round the image..
in dizziness...painted imagination". You certainly did something with the topic, indeed.

This free verse is an artistic

achievement, Sir, as you enact the uniqueness of Abstract Art and the question of its success appears to lie in the eye of the artist. I know this to be true. Boundary pushers in Art cling to their work until society catches up. This occurred in my country with the great Sidney Nolan.
I commend this poem for serious study by readers.

    Dr Derry.
