I watched a tiny bug
sailing on a bright orange leaf,
down a slow, but turbulent stream,
clinging wingless at the mercy
of a deep and rocky flow.
Like a sailor with no tiller
leaning with the shifting craft,
trying hard to hold the center,
water droplets twice his size,
splashing water bombs around him.
Suddenly a limb extending
just ahead became a haven
in an instant he leaped upward,
landing firmly there with flair,
thus escaping icy death,
as the leaf it tumbled onward,
flipping over on the next turn,
disappearing 'round the bend.

I remembered all the times my brother got told off for pulling the legs and wings off of daddy longlegs and putting them on a spiders web.He always was a cruel so'n'so.

Effective title with a touch of tongue-in-cheek humour.Imagery with crystal clear clarity.Particularly liked the second stanza. The poet captures a moment in time and makes it timeless.Well done.

A tribute to our mysterious world where, often, we find that we are not as big or as important as we might like to think. Thanks for sharing.

ps-good luck in this contest that you have entered. -
excellent
The title intrigued me...
I like how the reader got a moment in time to view a scene that wouldn't probably be noticed in our day to day lives...
Excellent job!

Someone who notices the tiny things on this earth, we think we all live in a world of peril, imagine living in a world so large being that size, this was a beautiful little write, well done

This was adorable and yet simple. I love how you took such a mundane thing (a bug on a leaf) and turned it into an exciting adventure. I especially liked the imagery in the second stanza.
This was magnificent! -
