Mistress Of My Fate....

sinner of souls
dragons who lay in wait
unaware of hidden desire

Searching for a safe place to hide within this dream
A nightmare it would seem as it brings tears
to stain my pillow, in shock I still lay
then a voice falls upon the sleeping ear
crystal in its clarity , were you able to listen
Tell me  did you hear?

Of mystical wishes..Make me a bird..I wish to fly away..
maybe in that moment the truth came to you..
you failed to listen
to take heed to its call
then another page turns
forcing you to take a closer look

if a dream never haunted you
would it really be ever thought of as a dream
but rather a reflection of your own failed reality
from the raging rivers , of urgency to simply let go..

Allowing thy spirit to soar upon some vast empty shore
Graced by wings from souls of poets
No I shall never forget
Reaching for an enchanted book
The pages of life reminds me

I am the Mistress of my own fate
Married to myself...I could never belong to anyone..
I cling to the unspoken words
Of Poets ,Priest legends of nothing..
Racing though each chapter marking every verse
searching for its meaning
realizing this life has been unrehearsed

till I find the words that fell upon my sleeping ear
and understand the tears
Listening to the poets who share their hearts and fears
Chasing paper tigers in fields yet to be cleared
A balance of spirits, souls in search of our own fates..
only then shall it become ever so crystal
That I have become the Mistress of my own fate...

Author notes

This is a combination of things that have happened to me today...

One I found in a dream...the other was a spiritual encounter with my dear sisters ~Blue ~and~Rhyming~...
Neither of them know the power of the words and thoughts these two poets have placed in my heart..not just today..but every day...they are my blue green colors flashing..smiles..
I also used 2 lines from Stevie Nicks songs that I feel are the essence of my soul...

Paper Tigers is from a poem in my list of favorites..if you have no read it or this poet..please do..
Peace and thank you for reading..

    Awesome.

If a dream never haunted you...

    No, I shall never forget
    Reaching for an enchanted book
The pages of life reminds me

I shall look deep within the pages of you
You, I, we can see this book through
I search for love, and that's how I've found you
Love me forever, and know what is true.

The pages of life, which is you and I
Reflect off ripples in the night time tide
    Ocean breezes, take us away
And before you know it, today we long for yesterday.

Just wanted to revisit here sis.
    Much love, brother Timothy

The lyricism is subtle, enchanting and pulls this reader deeper into the words and worlds created by the words. The images shatter on the mirror of my mind touching many feelings, coalescing and bringing me in touch enough to think I understand then, spinning into the murky swamps of my senses and recreating itself in my memories. I find myself in a tug and push of feelings. I am cheering when you stand, come clear, in focus with the line " married to myself" I am shuddering as you dance with dragons, prowl with tigers and explore the sensual wonder of your own self. Very good Melissa. I rarely have read a poem that has such a tidal surge as this one.
    Love, Tom B.

of urgency to simply let go...

My dearest sister, closer to me than my own flesh siblings...this rings with a spiritual clarity to me.
You give honor to me and Rhyme, but it is you & your perseverance who have removed the binds. Those ties that have dragged you back too many times to places you never thought you would go again. But I hear a voice clear and feel the flutter of lavender wings upon the wind...you are ready to fly; ready to leave the nightmares behind. And I will be there for you; a current of indigo blue; sighing as you fly higher.
Love and Light to you & I will cherish this beautiful write that calls to me in more ways than one. Blue

You desperately seek rainbows in your poetry and in your soul. The rainbow you seek is called "hope', and while in many ways each woman MUST be the mistress of her soul, realize that allowing the memories of what was done to you to pervade the here and now is tantamount to allowing the perpetrators to still have control over you. Put them behind you Melissa, toss them to a strong wind out to sea and proceed towards waiting ships in the not far distance, don't give those rascals the pleasure of controlling your life for one moment. life is precious, don't waste it on hate and pain, reject such and trip towards love and adoration. Watch the tide roll in, wash your fears in the tidal pools and wade out to your future on the schooner. Hey, they are serving lobster tonight, corn on the cob, Caesar salad and sinful deserts. Bring me a porpoise bag okay? (hey, I like Dolphins as they give me a Porpoise in life. )

Now, I see why you mentioned the dragon and the fairy tale earlier. I love the language in this piece. It's an evocative piece, loaded down with enchanted dreams. I really like how you mentioned two of my favorite poets in you author notes.... Rhyming from Rehab and Blue Rew. I'm going to have to read this again later on tonight, and really think about each stanza. I'm on m way to my ethics class.

I do want to mention, I find this piece to be quite inspiring. I've been wanting to write another medieval piece, but more mystical in nature, something to do with Merlin. I love the concept of using dreams and fairy tales in poetry. From what I am reading of this so far, it's really a wonderful piece of poetry.
