Impossible Love.

Atop the heartless mountain
There lay a fiery drake,
Though surrounded by burning flame
He suffered great heartache.

For, as all dragon students know
They love beauty and treasure
And the sweet maid he had spied
Had beauty beyond measure.

And far below, within the sea
The maid sat on her stone.
But tears fell down her perfect face,
For she felt so alone.

Her blonde locks were alluring,
Her tanned skin spotless too,
Her figure, perfect as a model's,
Her eyes of widest blue.

Surely she is perfect?
No. One thing kept her trapped,
For in a tail of ocean blue
The lady's legs were wrapped.

But this girl, she fell in love,
And this doth make her weep.
He is stuck on mountain tall
And she in oceans deep.

But life without love
Is just too much to bear,
So she jumped and he fell
And they met in the air.

One collision of love,
Of this passion so strong,
And in that otherwordly kiss,
Was were they did belong.

But they will never meet again,
A good thing that they kissed.
For fire and water cannot join
And continue to exist.

In fire, water becomes gas,
And leaves us on the breeze.
In water, fire is put out,
the burning flame, he flees.

And as our couple found their end,
They'd done what they must.
And so their story lives forever
T'was true love, not lust.

And so did die this lovely pair,
Forgetting would be wrong.
And that is why your reading this,
And why I wrote this song.

Inspired by a lovely image, and the age old tale of forbidden love.

This is a great fantasy piece. Very fairytale-like, in a well metred rhyming scheme. I couldn't help but notice the author age. This is a very mature and intelligent write. A credit to young writers and a positive example to those who think that creativity and use of language is falling by the wayside in todays youth.

Good write and congrats on silver.
