Finding Strength Within

Missing image
In dark of night God came to me,
in Him alone fear was set free.
He came to me and took my grief,
dried my tears gave me relief.

For now my son resides with Him,
at first God's light became so dim.
Time did heal lessened my pain,
saw His light shine through the rain.

God heard my cries saw my heart,
He saw how death tore me apart.
A mother's pain felt deep inside,
his earthly life now was denied.

Now paradise is yours my son,
God felt your work on earth was done.
He needed you much more then I,
for when God calls we can't deny.

Thank you Lord for the years we had,
warm memories of my little lad.
A fine young man when he was grown,
He is now with you he's not alone.

I miss and love you Brian

Author notes

This was dedicated to my Brian who passed away suddenly March 2, 2007. I miss you and thank God I had for the time you were with me here on earth. I will see you again someday my angel, my son.

Psalm 34:4-6
I prayed to the Lord and He answered me, freeing me from all my fears. Those who look to Him for help will be radiant with joy, no shadow of shame will darhken their faces. In my desperation I prayed and the Lord listened , He saved me from all my troubles.

    Dealing with a death
    is not an easy thing
    But when they are with
    our Eternal King

    It makes it easier to
    know they're with You
    In Your loving arms
    all the ages through

    Even though you miss him
    just know he's smiling down
And waiting for the day that
you and I will be heaven-bound

    So smile my little angel
    fly free like a dove
And know that I'm hugging you
    with unconditional love

This was truly a beautiful poem sandy I am really glad that you got to have those years that you did. May God continue to bless you throughout all the years that you have left here on earth. I can't wait to see you again I love you and miss you!!

Reminds me of the line from one of the letters... "I think my God every time I remember you." Great tribute and so full of hope. It's nice to know the Lord listens.

This is so beautiful and very very touching. The pain of losing a child can be devastating and only our Great Comforter can help bear the loss carrying us through the days. Excellently written with wonderful rythm and flow without taking away the poignancy. Thank you so much for sharing and may the Lord bless you always.

The emotion here is just...staggering. Is there another way to describe it? You captured every last bit of emotion in such a troubled time for any person. It amazes, and frightens, me how well this piece really is written.

It's something that I hope no parent has to go through, although we all know that it certainly happens. My prayers are with those parents that have to bury their children. You are truly strong. You, out of all those in the world, have suffered so much, but you keep going. And for that I can only say, God is with you. Keep him with you.

I can see and understand the pure rawity of emotion that has gone into this poem, the idea of the Lord is not quite my cup of tea but I can understand that people look to him for answers and believe in him. It is a very well written poem, so heartfelt, so real... I'm sorry for your loss and I hope that what you believe in consouls you and takes you forth in everything you do. He will never leave you, you'll always have him in your heart. *hugs* xxx

Hm. After spending a few minutes letting this steep in my mind, I only have a few comments to make. First, I can sympathize with you about the raw emotion that is put into your words. I lost my father when I was 11. I believe that we have different beliefs about where and what people do after they pass, but that is generally irrelevant. I love the flow and rhyming... it made the poem seem more heartfelt. Sometimes free verse does this, but in this situation, rhyming seems like it was the correct and better choice. I'm sorry for your loss, but we all know that he is doing bigger and greater things with Him, and he is still looking down on you.

    Blessed Be,
    ProdigalPoet
