The Underworld

Chorus:
Located in the beautiful West.
Where the day and life ends when the sun sets.
Spinning around in a whirl.
Journeying to the under world.

Travel to the tomb or among the stars.
Journey to planets Venus and Mars.
To the Earth to the shallow holes in the sand.
Each soul lending a hand.

Chorus

To the next world each soul is given gifts as a successful passage.
But, sadly grave robbers take advantage.
Down in the Egyptian pyramids.
Where mummies are entombed in graves with golden lids.

Chorus

Pray to the cat goddess Bast.
At night when darkness is cast.
Look up at the sky to Goddess Nut.
Wake up to an Egyptian sun.

Chorusx2

Spinning around in a whirl.
Journeying to the underworld.

Thanks for the honorable trophy. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem. I did have a lot of fun writing it. Ancient Egypt has always been a culture that I have found fascinating. Especially the whole concept of the underworld.

Cool! The most interesting thing about this was that I could actually imagine music being played, like the "standard" Egyptian stuff and guitars and stuff. What a mix! Good job, girl.

You always manage to write the mystery of mythology and the stars into your work and I love that. Your work always makes me see ancient times and the power of gods long forgotten. Please continue to bring them back to life and to share their glory with us.

    Good

It reminds me of a trip to the fine arts museums where these relics are. How they believed that if they took all their good with them they would have them. Someday you are going to put all your lyric to music and we'll hear it.

The Egyptian god/desses have always interested me - they each had their own domain that they ruled over and each had their own power ...
wonderful write here Haley - well done!
