Life surrounds you,
Rushing by.
Children, mothers, fathers,
aunts, uncles and grandparents
All living as one.
UNITY.
White man enter stage right,
New technology, clothes, flashy sunglasses and jewels.
White man may live in balance in his world,
but in theirs, he throws it off.
Enter me, stage left.
Innocent, there to ‘save the world’
Childish dreams of rescue, fame and recognition.
Chest inflated, expanded to the breach, bursting with pride.
From a wealthy home, a strong family.
a lavish life of privilege and parties.
Everything changes at that moment,
I see the pain, the mistrust.
White man has failed these people,
White man has forsaken them.
When White man came, he came with promises of fame and fortune, wealth and extravagance,
He came with promises he had no intention of keeping.
I am here to bridge this gap,
to cast off the shadows of the past, to help heal the future.
The responsibility is on us,
We responsible to fix this, we are the only hope.
Never will I return to a world of quiet ignorance,
where my thoughts and dreams,
my aspirations go unsaid. Because,
like so many, today might be my last.
