abortion hour (modern haiku)

abortion hour
lying across her womb -
the eclipse quilt

Author notes

Quilt number 4

"Your haiku need not be drawn to the quilt-block pattern itself--It may also be written of anything relating to quilts, quilting or even simply containing the word "quilt."

Note for Jo - Dear Jo, if you feel this haiku does not suit the block number 4, let me know, I will remove 'Quilt number 4' from my notes here and let the haiku remain. I hope it is still acceptable for this contest.

"Eclipse quilt" wow. I think you are referring to the sheet draped over the woman's body as she is in the stirrups? Either way, it is quite powerful. This packs so much power into so few words. Very well done. I feel this is exactly what a haiku should be.

This haiku is a fine entry to the contest, Char. I like so much when poetry, especially haiku, is able to evoke a statement of society or an issue without politicizing, but using image(s) to provoke thought and emotion within the reader.

The "eclipsed moon" is absolutely perfect in creating such an image to the issue of abortion in this haiku. Very touching image and I truly appreciate your entry to the contest and contribution the haiku-quilt too. Thank you.
