in the trenches of indifference
she fights a losing battle
music her weapon, her salvation
warpaint on her cheekbones
calluses on her fingertips

great 1st line

what does she do (with those fingertips), tho'? I want to experience her fight!

hmm...that sounded slightly perverse.
she plays her instrument of course. This poem was written for a picture-inspired contest...the picture was of a girl holding a guitar and having streaks of paint on her cheeks. (I think. To be honest I don't really remember it all that well anymore.)

I really enjoyed reading this. You are very talented!
I loved how you wrote about the trenches and the warpaint. The description of her "coping mechanism" was truely amazing!

i like this a lot. "trenches of indifference" what an awesome line and how many of us use music as a getaway or a high or something to keep us going. the last two lines are classic
thanks for entering and good luck. be well and be blessed
