bountiful blessings
fill many small cups with joy-
disappoint big pot

Hood Winked!!
Oh a haiku a poetic form I do indeed enjoy. The imagery painted the depth of thought I can ponder over in zen thinking while in awe at the wisdom within your lines.
I thank you for your many talents. What I so enjoy about going back and working forward along your poetic journey. A pleasure to read.

I find this such a thought provoking piece. So few words are left in the readers mind to determine what works for them. I really liked this..Congrats on the HM.
Well done.

Thank you, Soulful Woman, for the comment and clappies. This one spoke to me. Occasionally my gratitude is too measured by the fullness of my container, rather than the beauty of the gift.

Great haiku! The message (at least what I perceived it to be), reminded me of Thanksgiving, many loved ones gathered 'round the dinner table sipping and celebrating (and being thankful) for all of their blessings, while L3 reminded me of my family back home, disappointed that I won't be there with them.
Funny how the interpretation of a few simple words can vary from person to person. Anyway, well done...I loved it!

I enjoyed your interpretation! "Thanksgiving", what a mouthful! I expect your loved ones and family back home are all grateful for having had you in their lives. Now you get to help create the memories your children will hopefully love and cherish
Thank you for your comment and clappies!

Leaving this comment since re-posting AP has noted "not viewed by judge" and wouldn't let me close the contest unless I do.
Thank you again...

I was wondering what one might write of this quilt-block image, Mirthryl. If I recall correctly, at the website where I gathered these images it was called something like "Ship Sailing," but I like how you envisioned this as cups much better.
I really like the image and the message conveyed by this haiku--It's to see those small cups lifted in cheer, but the big pot does tend to empty at the same time. I'll think of this haiku certainly at the punch-bowl next holiday party!
Thank you again for this entry to the contest and haiku-quilt contribution. I really appreciate!

Thank you for your lovely comment, Jo! I had not thought of the punch-bowl scenario, tho' that fits it well!
I had been thinking that when we recognize and appreciate the richness of abundant daily blessings (I can walk, I have a bike, I live near enough a stop to use the bus), we are full of gratitude.
When only Bigger Things will be enough to 'fill the bill' (the big promotion, custom sportscar, Nobel prize), somehow the little things (which are just as bountifully present as ever) are viewed with a degree of distain and dissatisfaction. The same gifts may be both cause for rejoicing, and 'not enough' to coax a smile or "thank you".
