I smash up every mirror,
I break each cruel reflection
Hoping that my ugliness
Can now avoid detection.
But still your eyes are looking,
And these I cannot break.
I wouldn't strike your perfect face
So I could be a fake.
You couldn't love this ugly face,
The fates were too unkind.
And not even cosmetics
Give a mask to hide behind.
But suddenly you kiss me,
Take me in your embrace.
You tell me that you love me
For my charms and not my face.
So now I know why Cupid's blind,
As blind as blind can be.
For I could not have lived and loved,
Without you loving me.
Author notes
Quote 4:
Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; And therefore is wing'd Cupid painted blind.
I thought this was a nice quote to adapt and reflect a frequent teenage worry
