Viola Concerto in G Major: III. Andante

Funeral march
Going through the motions of death
Play along, play your part
But happiness escapes your lips
A sweet happy songs
Like joy fluttering up through the dust and tears
And the dust bears you down again
Butterfly wings won't get you far
Especially with all those stares

So play along, play your part

But even the sadness is joyful
The joy of living on
The joy of having lived life
And freedom is yours, melancholy and contentedly
With mourning and celebration
Displayed for the world to hear
From your viola strings

Author notes

What a gorgeous piece.

I would encourage any fellow violist to try it out. It's not all that hard at all. It's by Telemann, by the way. The title is the piece.

This poem will make much more sense if you listen to the piece. Here's a good rendition:

Gorgeous. It flows really well, except for -

    The joy of living on
The joy of having lived life

It just feels redundant. Other than that, it's beautiful. Great stuff.

errr, I do love the sound of stringed instruments but thanks to a slow computer and basic inadequacy, I fear I shall not be able to view the youtube link.
    so sorry
and therefore, it is slightly alienating..
    oh well
