I was by nature a violent person;
True child of Adam; destructive, vain.
My hands turned only to self serving.
My only thoughts, "What will I gain?"
I was by raising uncommitted
To anything outside my view.
My hands though strong in my own interest
Were never used in aid of you.
I am by choice a gentle person.
My hands turn naturally to tend.
I walk in peace, forsaking anger.
So I wont break, I've learned to bend.

The wonderful thing about our Lord is that He never breaks us, but bends us into His fashion. He never makes mistakes, and we always end for the better. You have strikingly relayed the self-centeredness of unsave humankind and depicted what he/she can become in the Lord. I find the indication of 'my hands' and also covertly suggested in the 1st stanza a lovely idea. Also: you have shown that the Lord who creates us, does not change us into something other than 'for what' He created us in the first place. Thanks for this poem, and blessings with the contest. Spirituality can change one into something they are not and into something better, someone whom no one recognizes. A wonderful message.

This is a great write! Something that I think we all can learn from. If we all took the time to reevaluate our lives to see just how much sorrow we cause to one another and find a way to change that about ourselves, the world would be a more beautiful place to live in.
I love how you went from being a violent to a peaceful person in this. Well done and all the best to you with this one in the contest!
