Hollowness, without you near.
just a vacuous lost soul.
An emptiness that fills in tears,
because I can't let go.
Why do I torment myself,
touching effigies cold as stone?
I've hidden away upon a shelf,
I've lost my pride and self control.
Fingertips caress the lines,
recalled upon your face.
Memories of lost love in time,
I cling to and can't erase.
Wasted tears can't bring you back,
and frigid stone can't give love I lack.

You have done a masterful job here. Before I ever read down through the words, I had a feeling I was going to like this. The title alone just seemed to speak and the words were just icing on the cake. Thank you for taking the time to enter my contest and good luck!

Amazing artwork only outdone by the words written in response to it. I love the feeling imbued here...
the despair and pain that go unanswered and untamed.
A sorrow-filled piece that captures the reader right from the start and doesn't let go. WOW! Blue
PS-hide in line 7 should be hid??

SO OPEN AN HONEST!!!
Most of us hold on even when all hope is lost, it is our nature I guess.

Lovely job (she says shivering). "A frigid stone can't give love I lack." Such a powerful conclusion. Best of luck in the contest, ♥ Belle
