Start Running

She never had a simple life,
I didn't know this for awhile.
Everyday she'd cry herself to sleep
But hide behind a smile.

Her mother would hit her
She'd wave me away.
Shes on a path of self-destruction,
But won't listen to what I say.

Her world began to even out,
She finally found someone,
Someone to love, and to love back.
Her journey to peace had finally just begun.

But then the magic spell was broken,
All he did was cheat.
He left her on their anniversary,
and left her incomplete.

She dallied with drugs and alcohol,
to fill what was missing.
She was filled with dispair,
that got worse with reminiscing.

So I'm left to pick up the pieces
of my fallen friend.
You better start running, pal.
I'll get you in the end.

i think you should get rid of the "just" that would make it flow better...

    that got worse with reminiscing
best line in this poem -- that's what happens sometimes if you dwell too much on the past.
