She held his face in her heart
willingly letting her secrets
be undressed in his arms.
All she was had been left
sheltered in the permanence of their love
forever she assumed
they would be two souls cemented as one,
never seeing a sunrise
without the other's caress.
Each night she exposed
the crevices of her deepest desires
unto his waiting hands,
willingly slipping into the satin sea of shadowy ecstasy
all because her soul believed so intensely
that they were two lives
fated to be sculpted as one faithful statue of affection.
Until the night a comet came unexpectedly,
a silvery flash from another pair of eyes
striking into his supposed steadfast stony nature
cracking it with quivers
until he crumbled from the explosion.
Now she clings to the image in her mind,
his fractured form lying on regret's ruinous heap,
languishing in her night of sadness
unsure if forgiveness' glue
can ever repair betrayal's cracks.

You have an uncanny ability to look deeper into the finer aspects of an image and see things that so many people would quickly gloss over, ignore or just simply fail to see altogether. I not only admire your ability but also your willingness to put it to use. This is a wonderful interpretation of the image and you put your thoughts to paper with all the finesse of a true artist. Thank you for taking the time to enter my contest and good luck!

Your words cut deep with this piece. Betrayal and forgiveness, they should go hand in hand though sometimes forgiveness is not an easy thing to give when one is hurt so deeply. Such a stunning verse this is. A pleasure to read.
