another silent summer
slides through
shifting curtains,
pausing discreetly
on last night's
kiss
she folds
her painted fingers
around
faltering breath,
eyeing soldiers
prostrate on paper,
their backs
together in shapes
resembling
love
somehow,
she finds
tomorrow's
disappointment
in today.
