Cursed Circumstance . .

Missing image

We have known each other . . .

Longer than life !

Feeling mutual recognition

Even at our first meeting

We were old new friends

Rekindling what had never been

And what was yet to come . .

Soulmate is a worn adage . .

But it leaps to mind for us

Yet fate comes to split asunder

And circumstance . .

Forbids our happiness

Oh God –

Will we ever play again

Tease and taunt each other

Will we once more wrestle in fun

With strength restrained

Yet emotions rampant

Will we effervesce with joy

Deafened by our silent laughter

As we melt in each others arms

Such joy that drains all energy . .

Sharing forbidden necessaries

Cruel fate just doesn’t understand

For we are cursed by circumstance . .

Will we ever play again ?

Sometimes . .

When I see newborn lambs

Frolicking for reasons unknown to them

Or spring daffodils bend obediently

Bowing to unconscionable winds

And pink blossoms tumble over green lawns

Only to be trapped by garden boundaries

I think and feel for us . .

In purgatory

How I long for eternity to come . .

Where all things are put to rights

And hopefully  . . we will play again –

In righteousness

...I think I'll just pretend this is 'just for me'...so lovely a write, Poet. You give a great sense of constancy, much needed by all, and the hopeful note of eternity in the ending...lifts my heart as I am sure it did the one for whom it is written. Be well...Rhonda
