Blind Poetry

There once was a poet
A great man was he
Except for one flaw
this man could not see

His blindnes saddened him
"Why would god do this to me
Haven't I been good" even for a poet
a poet who could not see

But one day there was a flash
and deeply came a voice
"yes young poet" said the voice
I did this, but was it not your choice

"You were destined for greatness
this you know to be true
cause everything I've done
I've done it for you"

"Destined for greatness
but what is it it means"
"I can't believe it's not clear
it is as it seems"

"your poems will inspire
little work it will require
your poems will come
what else do you inquire"

"but why is it my father
why am i blind
what can it do
but keep me behind"

"Each challange is an obstacle
one which must be overcome
which makes the victory that much sweeter
once your life it is done"

"But my lord answer me this
what comfort can come, Why is it we die"
Quite simply he said
the simple answer is to see how many people cry

"It shows the worth of your life
how you completed your goal
was it a success,
or was your life drab and dull"

"so we die as a grade
the life as a test
so what of the others
what of the rest"

"each death is an obstacle
someone else has a challenge
do you pity yourself
or do you get up and manage"

with that he went away
not a word left to say
the poet continued to work
the crack of light now a ray

he finished his life
happily dying
cause he knew when he left
many people would be crying

he passed his test
failed in his goal
but succeded in life
and happy was his soul
