Raison d’ętre

Missing image

Your eyes are summer morning ,
Your tears, frosty winter night.
Your hope is singing spring-time,
Your laughter, autumn delight.

I give my devoted heart,
And the better parts of me:
You are my raison d’ętre,
My perfect reason to be.

This is a delightful poem ...

and I like your use of the French phrase without translation. You expect educated people to know what it means, and you should. Anyway, good job on this excellent love poem.

    Variation on a theme...

    Your hope sings spring-time laughter,
    Your eyes shine summer morn,
    Your autumn lights hereafter,
Your tears, Jack Frost's sharp thorn.

    Devoted heart your altar
    Is offered, all my best,
    My raison d'être won't alter,
For you gift Time may test.
