At first, they were beautiful,
the tiny, dancing Fae,
leading me on a faerie chase,
and then they'd dance away.
I fell in love with a faerie lass,
and rode to meet her kin;
never having known the faerie ring,
or the danger that lay within.
I went among the circled flowers,
and entered in the hill.
If I'd known then what I know now,
I'd ha' never had the will!
They feasted me, and feted me,
full four days and nights,
but then I met the Faerie King,
and there began the fight!
The laughter took a wicked tone,
as they japed at me,
said he, "you cannot marry her,
we'll have to set you free!"
Well, the Fay were ever fickle,
So I'd marry the bonnie lass
who'd shared with me my farmyard days
and all my meagre past.
So, cackling, they turned me out,
to make my way back home.
and when in the dooryard I arrived,
I was quite alone.
At length I found her in the churchyard,
my darling bonnie lass:
She'd been sleeping underneath a stone,
while four centuries passed!
Now I have lost everything
that meant a flip to me,
all because I chased a thing
I wish I'd never seen!

This is yerself rhyming is it, Nephew! Not a bad wee effort at that. I'd wish you success if I wasn't in the contest myself.

Hmmmm??? Verdy Interesting!!!
Love it!!!! Love it!!!! Love it!!!! Then again I do love Faeries (no matter how the darn word is spelled)!!!! I love the twist that you threw in. It ended quite differently than I had expected. I love it flows and how it kept my attention, wondering as I read on, "just where is your warped, twisted mind going?" (I say that with love, because we both know that we have warped twisted minds sometimes. LOL!) Love ya bro! Keep up the good work! Hope to see more writings like this in the future. Hugs! -
Beautifully penned, my good man . . . or is that 'keyed'?
