The Beauty of Trees

Quiet contemplation of the soul led to deepest thoughts
As autumn leaves fell in my mind gently
Over past mistakes that were covered over
Dead as the autumn leaves themselves

Wrong was done to me but I reacted
I swear I only wanted justice
When the world is against you who is there
To hear you speak, to understand, to care?

Damage done by a poison mind, a scar, bleeding profusely
Every so often it hurts me, it was a deep hurt...
Why did I so allow this to happen to one such as me?
I should have, could have, would have stopped you...

My tears fall as silent as the leaves now
Memories only, just as those leaves were once alive
Feeding a beautiful tree with light and joy
As once I was fed with love and laughter

Time moves on and seasons come and go
The beauty of trees may last forever
But a human being may die of a broken heart
Forever is not so long for us

Death takes our souls and cleanses the thoughts of life
Retaining the wisdom of ages we return
We become the beauty and quiet wonder of the planet
We become the beauty of trees

That which is of the Earth remains
No matter for the dark deeds of man
Filtered out, unspoilt, we are but nothing
This Earth, this mystical place is far greater

Than any human being could ever be.

I loved how you related trees to love in comparison. I think it's the first time I have read such a piece to do so (I may have before and just forgot-lol). This earth truly does contain so many mystical places and I have been lucky to see some of them. I want to thank you for entering my "Invite Only; Me On Their List" contest.

    Looking at the trees

Led to contemplative reflection, a nice way to begin the poem and a good idea to draw parallels between the trees and your life throughout the poem. You show trees as spiritual and their beauty and I think they are. The trees have healing powers and are eternal, like Earth.

beauty indeed! a wonderful journey into the conscious, and quite the imagery to describe the nature in the seasons of a lovers life in heart, for whatever the karma, what ever the state of the tree, the branches would still remember the wisdom spoken beneath them...

The background was a tad distracting.Perhaps a simple monochromatic presentation is enough to compound the black and white of the voice of the poem?
The capitalization of each line when it wasn't a new line but a continuation of thought caused a somewhat misplaced focus.
The emotion was keenly felt and the inherent message, earth to earth, ashes to ashes,we are born from and return to the earth.
The last line was a pertinent and powerful reminder, indeed no one individual is greater than the sum total of Mother Earth but thank the lord for the trees that the likes of Ghandi,Mandela and Luther-King leave us to be oxygenated by.
