Psalm in Temptation

lustful eyes crave
temptationous fruit
bitter-sweet and all too temporary
contradictory
to my heartbeats of love
for my King

in this troubled moment, prone
in my weakness, prodded
to give my heart away
unguarded
to the enemy of my soul
for he craves to see me fall

and my experience has been:
You hold my hand
yes! even when: I let go
turning
to walk the other direction
for I am easily deceived

so please, don't let me go
my Jesus, maintain Your hold!
see? I seek solace in Your word!
listening
to Your voice
for it speaks peace upon my heart.

Author notes

I was recently tempted to look at pornography, because I saw some pictures of cute anime girls on my friend's screen-saver, but when I looked to God's word, the Bible (the Psalms in particular), that craving went away! So this poem is about that recent struggle, but really, about all of our stuggles, I do suppose.
