Torn And Troubled

What has happened to the world I
        knew as a child
Now everything sadly is crazy
        cruel and wild
In a time when life was calm
        filled with peace and joy
Where in woods, fields and streams
        Played a happy, carefree boy
Now in his heart a heavy sadness
        quietly lies
While the days and nights speed
        swiftly by
Once his heart was free from
        hardship and pain
Now only feelings that there
        is nothing to gain
Always taught that compassion and
        love should be shown
To see the beauty, the happiness that
        his family had always shown
Then terrible changes in his life
        showed their ugly face
Happy times ran away at an unstoppable
        quickened pace
Years passed, life was no longer
        happy and beautiful
Lost were the feelings, the emotions
        that were wonderful
Still though, now a young man
        he remained strong
Never giving way to the world that
        now seemed so wrong
In quiet, small ways, acts of
        compassion and love
Always giving to others, keeping
        faith in the one above
Now another test of faith with
        which to deal
Pushing the limit his sense of right
        he strongly feels
Yet once again will he rise up
        and believe
Not letting his faith in right and
        happiness leave
Days go by, life goes on, no change
        can he see
As he strives to keep everything
        as it should be
For some, peace and happiness they
        cannot keep
As with loving, gentle, sincere tears
        they softly weep
The ending is yet to come
        what will it be
As with a loving smile God patiently
        is waiting to see

    A beautiful write Pure Heart,

Such a sad and beautiful write. All the joy and security surounded by loving parents and many happy times in the wonderful security of their unconditional love, no matter what they were there for you.

Then the harsh reality of seeing the world its pain and hardship, gone are the lovely carefree days. But now strength to carry on which has been instilled their as you grew up, it will never go away, it will always be there in your heart where it was instilled when you were that young carefree boy.

May the fine moral strength planted in your heart continue to grow in understanding as you reach out in life but always remember the beauty that was put there when you were just a boy. Thank you for letting me accompany you on this journey back in time.. Your mom and dad must be proud of the man who you have become today. kind thoughts dear friend across the miles.

      HELLO LADYMAK

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for such wonderful and thoughtful comments I cherish the thoughts and feelings from my friends that they give to me so freely and sincerely. Times change in ones life and not always for the better, it is how we deal with them that helps us become who we are and who we will become.

Kevin, the one thing I have learnt by talking to you is that you're not a quitter and that your heart has the capacity to love all mankind, however cruel they may be.
Your poem it a testament to that and your words say so much about life today. God will always give you the strength to carry on and face adversity and I think however many times you're kicked and beaten down, you will always get up and start again, it's in your nature.

A wonderful poem Kevin, thank you for sharing it with us, I hope all goes well with you.

All the best in the contest and in your life.

    Your friend always

    Sue xx

      HELLO SUE

I am always deeply touched by everyones support, I have always been strong in the past. Yet as the years pass and now I am much older that strength is still there but I do find myself falling ever so slightly sometimes. Thanks for reading and such a heart0-felt comment, it means so much my friend.

      HELLO ALEXIS

Thanks so very much for stopping by to read my thoughts and feelings here. I am having a terrible time right now and have been for several months. Such tough choices to make, and, you know me, I can't stand to hurt anyone and in making the right choice I must hurt one who really doesn't deserve it for they don't know anything different then they see and do now.

A very solemn and beautiful write you have penned for us my friend. I feel such pain oozing onto the page through your words. Emotions strong, though that faith even stronger. I hear your heart crying out to Him, it is hard to always believe he only gives what we can handle. When we can't is when he carries us, thus the poem "Footprints". Your love for all around you keeps you strong and the heart inside you that is as big as God's earth spreads a serene feeling as you touch ours. I want to thank you for sharing your gift with us always and wish you the best in the contest with this lovely piece. Love and God bless you my dear friend, Joyce

      HELLO JOYCE

Your words find their way into my heart and do ease the pain. I am having much difficulty in making the choices I know I must. I will hurt another with the obvious right choice and of course that is my trouble. Thanks ever so much for reading and such a heart-felt comment, they mean so much my friend.

very touching words dear Kevin. But there is still joy and in fact far more than before. We just have to look harder the older we get. But when we do we see it is there stronger than ever. Lets face it. There has been no total world war since 1945. In between the river of fighting factions is a channel of great love and spirit filled souls. Great write as usual.

      HELLO JANICE

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my thoughts here Over time there has always been bad things happening to me and each time I was able to rise up and move on with pride. Lately another trial has come my way, will what I do be the right thing to do? I do have faith that it will be even through my sad moments of not believing.

      HELLO DESIRE

Thank you so much for reading my thoughts on this. I have always had my share of times when I truly believed all was lost but somehow managed to rise up and move on. Now another test has come my way, what will I do, time will tell if I do the right thing or not.
