Silently waiting beneath the crystal waters surface
Plasures unbound by the thrill of the hunt
Slowly, inexorably raising my head, I scan the waters edge
I wait for a soft human child to devour
They love of the sounds of the meat as it drips
The salty fresh morsels of meat i rip free
I am everything that should not be
I am the monstrous the darkness is me
I am the shadow beneath the shimmer
Waiting for you to come deeper into the lake
Swim the blackness and feel free forever
Take one last look at the world of green and blue
Glimpse the laughing children and your smiling mother
Feel your mouth fill with cold water as I drag you under
Hidden from the world, my void
I have no face
just a writhing beaked skull
Maggot ridden, corpse-like
Sickly pallid flesh
Scales on the limbs, gills
Glass like eyeballs
Mouth just a quivering 'o'
Needle like teeth
Drooling with anticipation
I am the Black water Kappa
I am the souless scourge of man
I am insatiable

This was brilliant- Exactly what I was looking for. I admit that I happily had to look up what a kappa was and enjoyed the research oppertunity. Applause! I loved how you portrayed its point of view through 1st person. At first I was frustrated because the dark letters are difficult to read on such a dark background, but then I realized that whether you intended to or not, the darkness was part of the poem as well. It suited it. Excellent imagery- you made me think, you made me wonder... you even made me research kappas. Thanks for the great read.
