There is no sunlight here
Only a fading moon to guide on this eternal night
No other being of my kind
Only the creatures and critters
That crawl confidently in the dark
As I walk I feel snakes slither over my feet
And bugs cling to my skin to suck the life from me
The birds that fly are nocturnal only
And laugh as I get caught by sticky spider webs
And stare as I walk and stare as attempt to I sleep
But I never know what’s watching me
And it’s become something of a paranoia
Sometimes I see shadows run past
That disappear at second sight
I hear the cracking of the autumn leaves
The breaking of branches
Send chills through my soul
I wonder if it’s a predator
Or just a tiny creature
Sometime I wonder
If there’s another soul besides me
But the coyote and the winds howl
Along with the crickets and the night owls song
Quickly remind me that I am eternally alone
And though sometimes I wish for the warmth
Of another soul beside me
A voice who would hear me as well
But then I remember why I escaped the light
And though I haven’t heard my own voice in many months
I remember the words betrayal
Of trust and faith in the human soul
And I continue further into the dark
Author notes
This is kind of in the rough draft stages but I thought I'd give it a try.

Everyone else is describing this as a "great write" ... Let me be the non-conformist of the bunch and say that it was a brilliant piece! I can relate to this in so many ways! I hate the dark!
But anyways yeah this was just an outstanding poem... keep up the good work. -
It was a great write, the imagery wis amazing and ver realistic. Though i find it more creepy and chilling then sorrowful being the over all effect, but you did great on creating your own world.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU IN MY CONTEST!!! -
Oh this poem really reminds me of that Metalica song, One. This was a very chilling write. I got the hee-bee-jee-bee's more than once. Betrayal is a hideous human flaw, to be sure...Ithica
