A love poem stuck in reality...

Upon the mattress
It’s the end of the world
Your arms around me
My body shaking in the cold
I know you will warm me
I know you will kiss me
I know you love me

Upon the concrete
In the falling rain
My head upon you
Speaking of such pain
You make my heart break
But I could not show you that
I could only hold your hand
I know I love you

Upon the bench
With the stars high above
I let you watch me
I call you my love
But only to myself
I’m too far gone
To speak the words.
Upon the seat
Of the old pick-up truck
Our lips meet once more
A kiss for good luck
In a world not our own
You dream of me but
Still I do not speak
The words I long to say
A simple “I love you”
But I cannot

Upon my bed
Now all alone
I whisper into the dark
But you cannot hear
My mouth will not utter
Those words to you…
But as you hold me
And smell my scent
I can’t help but know
That you feel the same…
